Why I cannot edit an objective?

You can edit or update the details of an objective based on whether you are accessing as:

  • Employee, to manage your objectives in the My Objectives section.
  • Manager, to check on your team members’ objectives in Team: Administration>Objectives Cycles.
  • Admin, to monitor the participants’ objectives in Company: Administration>Objectives Cycles.

Employee

If you cannot update the properties (e.g., title, description, category, due date, key results, etc.) of your public or limited objective, it might be due to its state or the current phase of the cycle. In fact, you can edit the details of the objectives with public or limited visibility that have an open or awaiting approval state until the end of the Definition phase.

You cannot edit a public or limited objective anymore once it is set, i.e., it has been approved. In this case, if you think that some changes are necessary, you can send a message to your manager and the admins using the comment section in the objective sheet.

Moreover, make sure you are on the Definition phase view to be able to edit your objectives. You can change the phase view by using the round button on the top left corner.

You can always edit objectives with private visibility anytime during the cycle. Again, make sure you are displaying the Definition phase view .

Manager

If you cannot update the properties (e.g., title, description, category, due date, key results, etc.) of a public or limited objective of one of your team members, it might be due to the current phase of the cycle. In fact, you can edit the details of the objectives with public or limited visibility until the end of the Definition phase.

You cannot edit a public or limited objective anymore after the end of the Definition phase. In this case, if you think that some changes are necessary, you can send a message to the admins using the comment section in the objective sheet.

Moreover, make sure you are on the Definition phase view to be able to edit the objectives. You can change the phase view by using the round button on the top left corner.

You cannot see the details of objectives with private visibility nor edit their details.

Admin

If you cannot edit the properties (e.g., title, description, category, due date, key results, etc.) of a public or limited objective of a cycle participant, it might be due to the phase view you are displaying. In fact, you can always edit the details of the objectives with public or limited visibility, regardless of the current phase of the cycle. Hence, make sure you are on the Definition phase view to be able to edit the objectives. You can change the phase view by using the round button on the top left corner.

If you have both a Manager and Admin account, make sure to access the relevant objectives from Company: Administration>Objectives Cycles to be able to edit objectives according to the admin account’s permissions.

You cannot see the details of objectives with private visibility nor edit their details.
