Types of link

In the Networks tab of the objective sheet, you can see how that objective links with others. An objective can have up-links or down-links.

The objective has an up-link when that objective is functional to complete the objective or key result shown in the list of up-links. For example, the objective “Strengthen corporate culture” is functional to achieve the objective “Employee Engagement” listed as an up-link (see image below).

The objective has a down-link when that objective needs the objective shown in the list of down-links to be completed successfully. For example, the objective “Improve Communication” listed as a down-link can help achieve the objective “Strengthen corporate culture” (see image below).

The network graph below shows how the objectives “Improve communication”, “Strengthen corporate culture”, and “Employee Engagement” are linked to achieve the strategic objective “Best place to work”.

Note: Each up-link corresponds to a down-link and vice-versa. For example, the objective “Employee Engagement” appears as an up-link for the objective “Strengthen corporate culture” (left image below); hence, “Strengthen corporate culture” appears as a down-link in the objective sheet for “Employee Engagement” (right image below).
